Light Set Assistance

You can be assured that the lights on our trees are as trouble-free as possible, however sometimes problems can still occur.  These sets are designed such if one bulb burns out, the rest will remain lit.  If one bulb is removed or not properly seated in the socket, the whole set will go out.  In some cases a bulb, although not completely removed from the socket, will not be seated properly and will cause the set to go out.  This can be caused by the bulb being loose and the wires on the sides of the base not lining up properly with the metal contacts in the socket.

1.    Check to make sure all of the bulbs are firmly seated in their sockets.  Never twist the bulbs, simply pull them straight out and push them straight in.

2.    The next step is to check each bulb in another set which is operating properly.  Just remove one bulb at a time and test it in the other set.  When you find the bulb that is causing the problem, replace it with a new one of the proper voltage.  Some bulbs which may look identical may be rated 2.5, 3.5, 6 or 12 volts.  Using a replacement bulb of improper voltage may cause additional problems.  2.5 volt is the most common replacement bulb size.  Use the replacement bulbs that came with your tree.  If you need additional replacement bulbs, refer to the documentation that came with your pre-lit tree to determine the proper voltage bulb for your tree.  Replacement bulbs may be obtained locally.  If you cannot locate replacement bulbs, please contact us at Customer Service and we will be able to assist you.

3.    It is IMPORTANT to replace the bulbs as they burn out.  There is 120 volts of current going through each set and this current is divided evenly between each bulb.  If a number of bulbs burn out then too much current will be going to the remaining bulbs causing them to burn out prematurely.  A 50 light set has 120 volts running through it which is approx 2.5 volts per bulb (120 divided by 50 lights is 2.4 or about 2.5 volts) which is a common replacement bulb size.  It is IMPORTANT to replace the bulbs as they burn out.

We rarely find a set where the wiring itself is defective, although if the set is mishandled, then anything is possible.  Replacing the bulbs as outlined above will cure 99% of the problem sets.

If you still cannot get your set to work, please contact us at Customer Service.  We will be glad to give you further assistance.  We want you to enjoy your pre-lit tree for many years.

Thank you.
